Hi, I’m Merry Lynch, the woman behind Braving Midlife.

Ten years ago, I packed up my life, left behind everything familiar, and moved abroad. It wasn’t glamorous or easy — it was messy, uncertain, and at times, incredibly lonely. But it was also one of the most powerful decisions I’ve ever made. It taught me how to let go, start over, and trust myself in a whole new way.

And that’s what this space is all about.

Braving Midlife was born from my belief that it’s never too late to try something new, rewrite your story, or chase a dream that scares you (just a little). Whether that’s moving across the world or simply daring to say “yes” to something outside your comfort zone — I’m here to walk with you as you do it.

This season of life isn’t the end of something. It’s the beginning of something extraordinary — if we’re brave enough to show up for it.

Here, you’ll find inspiration, honest conversations, and a growing community of women doing life differently. You’ll also meet the FFT Club (our space to celebrate first times!) and get weekly nudges to spark your next chapter.

I know what it feels like to have life knock the wind out of you.

To be in a place — literal or emotional — where you can’t catch your breath.

To question your worth. To wonder if you even matter. I’ve been there — more than once.

And not just in the metaphorical way.

I’ve packed up my life, moved across oceans, and landed in countries where I didn’t speak the language, didn’t know the rules, and couldn’t even read the shampoo bottle. But I’ve also learned this:

• The stories we tell ourselves — that we’re too late, too broken, too much, or not enough —are just that: stories. And most of them? Total bullsh*t.
• I don’t believe God, Allah, the Universe, Angels (or whomever you roll with spiritually) put us here to live a suck-ass life. We were made for more — and not the hustle kind of more, but the meaningful kind.
• It took over a million sperm to make you. To make me. You already beat the odds. You're here — and that makes you a walking miracle.

So if you’ve read this far, I know something about you:

• You’ve been through it.
• You’ve had your breath stolen by life, love, loss, or simply by the sheer disorientation of starting over — maybe in a new country, or just in a new version of yourself.

But you’re still here. Still curious. Still becoming. And that is no small thing.

That’s why I do what I do.

To walk with women who are navigating transitions — career, identity, relationships, continents.

To create space for trying things for the first time. To laugh through the ridiculous, cry through the hard, and remind each other we are never, ever too old to begin again.
